Many people told me it’s too late to promote on social media.
Time is gone — influencers who started earlier occupied social media presence.
After listening “this advice,” I set up paid ads on Twitter.
I spend $9 on getting three followers.
No way. I can’t continue this way. I have no budget to gain followers.

I read a lot of blog posts about social media marketing, listened to many audio podcasts, and watched many YouTube videos.

I tested many different approaches to get followers.
I failed a lot with standard recommendations.
Then I stuck with six methods that work better than anything else:
- Forget about selling – bring value
- Breaking news is crucial
- Publish a lot
- Convert and syndicate content to different formats
- Follow others
- Write comments on influencers’ accounts
Forget about Selling – Bring Value
People are selfish – they try to sell everywhere.
However, the social media audience has a different mindset.
They don’t want to buy it.
For example, if you go to the beach, do you want to buy t-shirts and sneakers?
Of course not because you want to swim and sunbathe.
If you go to church, do you want to swim or sunbathe?
I’m pretty sure – no.
It’s the same with social media promotion.
Check out GaryVee accounts – he doesn’t sell anything.
He brings value and helps people.
In the end, he sells more than anybody else.
On social media, 100% of the time, you need to bring value.
It creates brand awareness and helps with selling your products.
That’s why I only publish valuable information.
Breaking News is Crucial
Publishing valuable information is essential.
However, users might know this information.
You need to bring them something new.
I usually read a lot of blogs about digital marketing, where I scoop the breaking news.
It isn’t effortless to open all these blogs.
That’s why I use feedly.com to check all news in one dashboard.
I usually read 10-20 blog posts a day and comment on them if there is a suitable comment section.
My comments are great for my social media posts.
Publish a Lot
Many marketers recommend publishing a few times a week.
However, you can’t achieve all your target audience if you publish not often.
Some people open social media on the weekend, others on working days.
Someone likes morning time, others only evening.
My wife is here in the morning, evening, working day, and at the weekend, but it’s rare for all people.
If you publish a few times a week, then your posts sink between others.
That’s why I publish every day at different times.
Convert and Syndicate
Before getting to all social media, you need to analyze your resources.
Can you occupy a few social media platforms?
Many marketers told me to pay attention to one social media platform where your target audience is.
They are right if you don’t convert and syndicate.
For example, I publish and syndicate this text on my blog, Linkedin, Medium, a few times on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook.
Then I convert this text to video format for YouTube, Instagram, Linkedin, and Facebook.
Use this approach because social media don’t care about uniqueness – they only care about copyright.
It’s essential to follow other people in your niche.
Engage with their followers because it’s your target audience.
People follow you back if your content is valuable for them.
Write Comments on Influencers’ Accounts
It’s my loving strategy.
I write a lot of valuable comments and bring additional value to the posts.
I usually do it on blog posts, YouTube, and Linkedin.
I want to write on other social media platforms as well; however, my time is limited.
That’s why I publish my comments where I get more engagement.
Linkedin is the best place to do it because who wrote the comments on the same posts – get the notification about you.
Bring value and help people on social media.
Create brand awareness first!
